A Few of my Favorite Things {Stocking Stuffers}

7:00 AM 6 Comments
I am back for the next installment of Favorite Things: Stocking Stuffers!

Today, we are covering stocking stuffers! I love goodies for the stocking because it really challenges the gifter to think up unique gifts in small sizes. I'm usually of the opinion that stocking gifts should be inexpensive, but hey...I guess a pair of diamond earrings comes in a small package, right? ; )
Here are some of my faves this year:

Stocking Stuffers

Blanket Scarf. You can never have too many scarves, and this year the blanket scarf is a super cute way to keep warm. Roll it up and stuff in a stocking!

Shaving Set with Brush. I love this set for the guy in your life. This one is $18 from Amazon, but you can definitely splurge for a nice set for $50-$100 range.

Tervis Tumbler. Who doesn't love a Tervis?! Keeps hot drinks hot, cold drinks cold, and doesn't sweat. Plus tons of designs!

Mist Screen Cleaner. For the germaphobe on your list! An all-in-one microfiber and cleansing spray for your cell phones, tablets, etc. I would love to find one of these in my stocking!

3D Fiber Mascara. Fiber mascara is all the rage this year! This would be a great gift for that frugal lady who wouldn't typically splurge on cosmetics.

What do you think about the list? Is there anything on here you would love to find in your stocking?

Link up y'all!

A Few of my Favorite Things {My List 2014}

7:00 AM 7 Comments
It's here! It's here! I loved participating in the first annual Christmas List Linkup last year, and it's time to do it again.

Today, the focus is on my list for this year...what I hope for/need the most! I have to be honest-I am a very practical gifter. I don't often spend money on myself, so my list is usually filled with things I need, not necessarily frivolous items. The husband has to remind me all the time, though, that gifts should be something special that I would never buy for myself! I'm trying, y'all...it's the curse of being frugal :)

My List

Calphalon Contemporary. I love my Calphalon pans, but after 4 years of use (and a husband who loves to BBQ!), they are starting to wear. I love that Calphalon has come out with a contemporary line that can go in the dishwasher! YES!

Plaid Shirts. I desperately need some tops to wear with leggings/boots. I'm loving plaid this year...and BONUS: the button-up is breastfeeding-friendly :)

Tote. I'm pretty sure the last purse I bought was 5 years ago. Sad, I know. My bags these days are filled with diapers and pacifiers! Still, for the rare times that I'm away from the house without kids, I could really use a new tote! I love this one from my fave place....Target!

Young Living Essential Oils. I have become really interested in the health benefits of essential oils. I would love a burner for the home and a starter set of oils!

Nikon D3200. It's time for a big-girl camera. It's a far-fetched wish, but I feel I should put it out there :)
Life Planner. Some people use their smartphone for everything, but I still love the feel of a paper planner! This one from Plum Paper Designs is super cute (um, anchors) and functional. This Etsy shop has a ton of designs and different types of planners. Of course, there's always the Erin Condren or Simplified planners.

There ya have it...my top most-wanted items for 2014! The husband would be proud of all the frivolity on here, right?

Don't forget to link up...and check back next week for Week 2: Stocking Stuffers!

Five on Friday

7:00 AM 1 Comments
After a summer break for the Five on Friday ladies, and a maternity break for me, I am back at it!
I love Five on Friday because it gives me a chance to reflect on my week/upcoming weekend and think about what I'm thankful for and excited about!

{ONE} It's Friday.
Duh. Before going on maternity leave, Fridays didn't mean much to me. As a nurse, I work weird days and hours, to include weekends at times. Since I don't work a typical work-week, Friday is just another day. Now that I'm home every day while the husband is away at work, I realllly look forward to Fridays, and a break from solo parenting for a couple of days :)

{TWO} Northern Parentals.
I am super excited for a visit from our northern family! They will be here for an entire week, which still won't be enough time to catch up and visit! We will take advantage of every visit, long or short, until they decide to move down here.

Feeling nostalgic with this throwback photo...I love this lady!

{THREE}  Fall Art.
One of the perks of being on maternity leave + having a toddler at home is the fun fall art we have created this season. Hand turkeys and leaf rubbings are where it's at y'all!

{FOUR} Mild weather.
We are taking advantage of every mild (read: warm) weather day we have left! Going outside is a must for my active toddler. I'm pretty sure parents rake leaves for the sole purpose of kids jumping into the pile. I know P sure loved it!

{FIVE} Good Neighbors.
I knew I had awesome neighbors, but it's become even more apparent since Eliza's arrival. They have cooked meals, provided childcare, and most of all...provided company. It's not easy to leave the house with a toddler and newborn in tow, so being able to throw on some sweats and take a short walk to visit a neighbor is super important!

Peyton and her BFF, Ella rocking on the porch!

Enjoy your weekend, friends! And be sure to link up :)

Eliza {One Month}

7:00 AM 0 Comments
And just like that..our little Eliza Cate is one month old. Time is, as usual, flying by. I am really trying to stop and cherish each little moment with her!

One month old

Eating: About every 3 hours, but we still have random days of growth spurts where Bean is hungry constantly. The longest stretch has been 5.5 hours.

Sleeping: Oh yeah...this is what it's like to have a newborn again! It seems that Eliza has more digestive issues than Peyton did (spitting up, gas) so each night, I am up with her for about 45 minutes feeding/burping/settling. On "bad" nights, she sleeps for about 30 minutes then begins grunting, then wakes herself up. And the whole process begins again!
Her longest stretch of sleep is typically early night (~8pm) when she might go 5-6 hours! So, if I want to take advantage of it, it's an 8pm bedtime for me too. No shame here! As exhausting as this is, I know too soon that she will be walking and talking and not interested in cuddling.

Skills: Focusing on something, and starting to track! She's advanced ; )
I am convinced she smiled at me...then she passed gas. I'll keep trying!

Happy Times: Pretty much all the time! She is a content baby who loves to sit and observe. I call her "quietly curious".

Unhappy Times: She fusses when she's hungry and sleepy. And grunts when she's gassy or trying to break out of her swaddle!

Stats: 10 lbs, 2 oz (up 2 pounds in 2 weeks!); Wearing newborn and some 0-3 month clothing

Eliza Bean,
You are such a wonderful addition to our family! I am really enjoying getting to know you, and I'm eager to see your little personality begin to blossom. It's precious to see how much Peyton adores you, and I can already tell you love her. Thank you thank you for being such a good baby thus far...let's keep it up, ok?
We love you bunches!

Having S'More Fun!

8:00 AM 0 Comments
As if our fall season hasn't been busy enough, we come to the most fun day of the month...Halloween!

Each year, Halloween becomes more and more fun. This year, we really enjoyed making our costumes and spending the evening with family and friends.
I began brainstorming costumes back in August...knowing we would have an infant that I would want to carry in the Moby. We love dressing as a family, and hope to continue this tradition for as long as possible!

As much as I try, I am not a very crafty person...but I was pretty proud of these costumes! Ben and I were graham crackers, Peyton was the marshmallow with fire underneath, and Eliza was wrapped up in the Moby as our Hershey bar.
The weather was perfect, and Peyton was so excited to go trick or treating! She actually 'got it' this year, and eagerly ran up to neighbors' doors.

I am already brainstorming for next year's costumes...ideas?

It's the Fall Things...

8:00 AM 0 Comments
...ya know, like the fair, pumpkins, hay rides, and football!
Basically, a photo dump of the past 4 weeks!

Before Eliza was born, Ben and I knew we wanted to plan an outing to the fair with just Mommy, Daddy & Peyton. The timing was perfect (about 2 weeks after baby sister arrived) and it was great to get out of the house and spend some one on one time with our big girl. I'm so glad we did because for the past few weeks, it is all Peyton talks about.

Waving at the rooster

She was a little nervous about all of the rides at first, but really had fun after a few rounds.

A fall must: Going to the the pumpkin patch! We always have a lot of fun at Berry Patch Farms, and my dear friend Haley met us at the farm this year to snap a few family photos. (Something I was most thankful for....besides an attempt at a selfie, these were the first photos we've taken as a family of 4!)

My nephew pushing P on the swing!

I love how much fun these cousins have together!

Face Painting

Hayride!

As exhausting as it is these days to be a Tennessee football fan, we still cheer for our boys in orange, hoping for better years to come!

We start Gameday morning off right- with orange icing cinnamon rolls!

My little cheerleaders

According to Peyton, fall is her favorite time of year...and I can see why! We are staying busy busy and Eliza is along for the ride.
I hope you have been enjoying your fall!
